About The Position

The Registered Nurse for Inpatient Wound Care plays a critical role in delivering specialized nursing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds within an outpatient setting. This position focuses on comprehensive wound assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of evidence-based wound management protocols to promote healing and prevent complications. The nurse collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and nutritionists to ensure holistic patient care. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families on wound care techniques and preventive measures to support recovery and reduce readmission rates. Ultimately, this position aims to improve patient outcomes through expert wound management and compassionate nursing care.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Wound Care (e.g., Certified Wound Care Nurse - CWCN or equivalent) or exposure to wound care or related specialties.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary wound care team.
  • Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems specific to wound care documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough wound assessments and document findings accurately in patient records.
  • Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on clinical guidelines and patient needs.
  • Administer wound treatments such as dressing changes and application of advanced wound care products.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly, communicating changes to the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound care procedures, infection prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and facilitate timely interventions.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control standards and safety protocols in all wound care activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education related to wound management.
