About The Position

The primary focus of this department is on first responder health and wellness. This role will assist with facilitating annual physicals for police, fire fighters, and paramedics. Responsibilities include cross-training to complete cardiac stress testing, medical testing-hearing, vision, pulmonary function, and fitness assessment. Experience in these areas is not required, though proficiency in administering vaccines and performing blood draws is preferred. This team member will also support departmental programming for patients completing the final steps of the visa process. Responsibilities include patient outreach, compiling health and immunization histories, and coordinating any necessary follow-up. A typical day would have patient care as the focus in the mornings, with administrative duties handled in the afternoons. Though based in Wentzville, occasional travel to Bridgeton (DePaul Hospital) or Fenton (St. Clare Hospital) may be necessary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • State of Work Location: Illinois Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • State of Work Location: Missouri Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
  • State of Work Location: Oklahoma Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State.
  • State of Work Location: Wisconsin Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • May round with physician in an inpatient setting.
  • Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice.
  • Ensures that nursing care is delivered based on patient's age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service.
  • Demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model.
  • Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of patients.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
