About The Position

WellStaffed is WellSpan's internal traveling department. You will travel between all WellSpan entities including, Ephrata, Good Samaritan, York Hospital, Gettysburg Hospital, and Waynesboro. This position provides professional nursing care at the intermediate practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. The role includes coordinating care planning with other disciplines and coaching and mentoring the Clinical Nurse I.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Diploma Program Required or Associates Degree Required.
  • Bachelors Degree Nursing (BSN) Preferred.
  • 2 years of Dialysis experience required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required.
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides dialysis treatment in conformance with nursing standards to include initiation, monitorization, and termination of treatment.
  • Measures blood flow and clotting; and removal and insertion of blood tubing.
  • Assesses and coordinates overall patient care in relation to the dialysis treatment, dietary restrictions and psychosocial and physical needs of the individual.
  • Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
  • Independently recognizes subtle changes in condition and modifies plan of care accordingly.
  • Safely and independently administers prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions based on assessment and plan of care.
  • Initiates emergency action in response to acute risk situations.
  • Independently organizes and prioritizes time based on higher acuity patient assignments and increased workload.
  • Evaluates patient care and promotes goal-directed change to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration in evaluation of patient progress.
  • Identifies and facilitates individualized patient needs for transfer/discharge and includes patient/family in decisions.
  • Begins reading current literature and expresses interest in evidence-based research and its application to best practice.
  • Seeks learning opportunities and resources beyond own work environment and incorporates into practice the new knowledge and skills acquired.
  • Meets mandatory criteria for CNAP II level.
  • Actively promotes an environment conducive to professional practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient and staff safety.
  • Demonstrates leadership at point of care and provides leadership for problem solving and goal formation.
  • Applies current WIGs to care delivery and begins to take on charge duties/responsibilities.
  • Anticipates needs for alterations in staffing for upcoming 24 hours and assists with actions to adjust.
  • Demonstrates ownership of patients beyond individual assignments.
  • Promotes cooperation and communication among all team members.
  • Displays conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maximize team performance.
