About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Vascular Surgery/Medical Progressive Care unit at Mayo Clinic, located in Mary Brigh 8BG (MB8BG). This 29-bed unit specializes in the care of progressive and general care adult vascular and monitored medical patients. The nursing team is responsible for caring for patients who have undergone vascular surgery, those admitted with medical conditions requiring cardiac monitoring, and postpartum patients with babies in the NICU. The nursing care involves complex symptom management for patients with multiple comorbidities, patient and family education, extensive wound care, administration of cardiac IV medication drips, and discharge planning in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) with less than 12 months of practice experience for new graduates.
• State licensure required for TN sponsorship.
• Completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in vascular surgery or telemetry nursing is preferred.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care including direct patient care and patient/family education.
• Support professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care.
• Plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
• Provide leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.
• Possess excellent communication skills and mentor and teach others.
• Participate in committees or projects as needed.
