About The Position

The Vascular Access Nurse I reports to the Vascular Access Insertion Nursing (VAIN) Coordinator and the Lead Coordinator for Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing and Vascular Access Insertion Nursing Programs. Under general supervision, the Vascular Access Nurse I works collaboratively with the VAIN Coordinator providing PICC, midline, and IV vascular access to patients utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; reducing post procedure complication rates and providing quality patient care. This role provides education to patients and family members regarding PICC care and maintenance while interacting with other members of the health care team to achieve the desired results. This position functions as a resource for central line and intravenous care.

Requirements

Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years of work experience as a registered nurse required.
Successful completion of in house PICC Excellence training modules required within 1 months of hire date.
PICC or vascular access certification (CPUI, VA-BC, or CRNI) to be obtained within 18 months of hire date.
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
