About The Position

Responsible for the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients during the transport process, under the direction of the Manager of the Critical Care Transport Team, the Administrative Director and the Medical Director. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes and can function autonomously in an advanced clinical role with responsibilities in the areas of clinical care, leadership, education, consultation and research. Contributes to the provision of quality care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Assists management in the development of systems, processes and programs to improve the quality of patient care and increase nursing efficiency throughout the transport process. Develops, coordinates, and monitors unit preceptor program in collaboration with nurse managers.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in adult, pediatric, neonatal critical care or emergency required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure by the State of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE within 6 months of employment.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within the first year of employment.
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing.
  • Meets unit-specific education requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of routine and critical procedures with critical thinking skills for both neonatal and pediatric patients.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and ability to practice good judgment in the implementation of clinical interventions indicated by the patient status.
  • Ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient problems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transport equipment and modalities, emergency care procedures, oxygen delivery capabilities of various transport vehicles, and patient management at high altitudes.
  • Ability to foster and facilitate collaborative interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to foster and implement team-building strategies.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.

Nice To Haves

  • Critical care transport experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
