About The Position

The position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for SIH patients. The role involves assessing patients to determine their mental, physical, and spiritual needs, establishing a compassionate environment, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary health care team to implement and evaluate individual care plans. The nurse will also provide health teaching and counseling, demonstrate clinical judgment, complete accurate documentation, and advocate for patients by communicating with other health service professionals.

Requirements

  • Associate, Diploma, Bachelor's degree or Master's in Nursing.
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
  • Current CPR/BLS Card.
  • Current ACLS card (within 6 months of hire).
  • Technical Experience: At least 1 year of Cath Lab Nursing Experience required for Cardiac Cath Lab.

Nice To Haves

  • Current PALS card (within 6 months of hire).
  • TNCC (within 1 year of hire or residency graduation).
  • ECRN (within 24 months of hire or residency graduation).
  • ACLS, Fetal Monitoring – Monitoring, & NRP (within 6 months of hire).
  • NRP (within 6 months of hire) for Mother Baby.
  • NRP & PALS (within 6 months of hire) for Pediatrics.
  • ONS CTC-Infusion Center certification (Fundamentals within first 6 months and Chemotherapy Certificate Course within 1 year, renewed every 2 years).

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
  • Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Provide health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients.
  • Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgment in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
  • Complete, accurate, and timely documentation in patient medical records.
  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care.
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistant personnel.
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals.
  • Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
  • Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level.
