About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Telemetry/Observation position at WellSpan Health involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 30-bed unit specializing in cardiac, medical, and surgical care. The role includes implementing and coordinating patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while also ensuring safe medication practices and effective communication with patients and families. This part-time position requires working 12-hour day shifts and includes opportunities for professional growth and participation in committees.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.
  • Previous nursing experience in a specialty area preferred, with specific experience requirements for various departments.
  • Eligible for or currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • CPR certification required; ACLS certification required for specific services.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitor interpretation required for various services.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and coordinate patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate safe medication practices and maintain a professional image.
  • Complete chart checks to ensure no missed orders and accurately transcribe physician's orders.
  • Utilize therapeutic communication skills and assess patient education needs.
  • Attend at least 50% of staff/committee meetings and in-services for the area.
  • Act as a resource person regarding patient care and staff orientation.
  • Analyze assessment data, identify priority problems, and document on the Plan of Care.
  • Initiate and maintain Intravenous Therapy according to IV standards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and utilize proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
  • Function as a virtual nurse for admissions, discharges, education, and documentation.
  • Collaboratively coordinate with other departments to meet patient needs.
  • Provide basic dysrhythmia interpretation and treatment, and perform peritoneal dialysis.
