About The Position

Requirements

  • Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • At least one year of previous hospital acute care experience (preferred).
  • APHON certification preferred within 1 year of hire.
  • PALS certification preferred within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs.
  • Coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines involved in the treatment effort.
  • Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
  • Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed.
  • Administer medications.
  • Practice infection control and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
  • Develop and maintain current written plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Set priorities to meet the patient's needs and goals with the patient and/or family.
  • Provide documented evidence in the medical record of patient/family teaching and their responses.
  • Communicate and work effectively with other staff and departments.
  • Participate in unit or hospital-based quality assurance activities.
