About The Position

The Registered Nurse (T&RC) in Labor & Delivery at Stony Brook Medicine plays a vital role in providing care to mothers and their families during labor and childbirth. Requirements

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• At least one year of previous hospital acute care experience (preferred).
• Previous OB experience, NRP, RNC-OB, C-EFM certifications (preferred).

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a Labor and Delivery setting.
• Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Certification in Intrapartum Nursing (RNC-OB).
• Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs.
• Coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including teaching needs and discharge planning.
• Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed.
• Administer medications and practice infection control.
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge RN/Clinician.
• Develop and maintain current written plan of care for assigned patients.
• Set priorities to meet the patient's needs and goals.
• Provide documented evidence in the medical record of patient/family teaching.
• Participate in unit or hospital-based quality assurance activities.
