About The Position

Sentara Health is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for a System-wide Traveler position that offers an expansive benefit package, flexible permanent full-time hours, premium pay, and differentials. This is a full-time permanent position, not a temporary contract, with premium pay of $15 more per hour based on specialty compared to working at one hospital. RNs will have new assignments every 6-12 weeks and must be willing to travel to all 12 Sentara hospitals based on the greatest need, including locations in Southside and Peninsula Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Halifax, and Albemarle (NC). For assignments greater than 75 miles from home, benefits include block scheduling, meal reimbursement, lodging provided, pay for travel time, rental car or mileage reimbursement, and the opportunity to earn hotel and rental points. The position requires RNs with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in designated specialties, rotating shifts, and opportunities are available in Medical/Surgical, Intermediate Care/Stepdown, Critical Care/ICU, Emergency Department, Mother Baby/Postpartum, and Specialty Nursery throughout Virginia.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of consecutive recent RN experience in designated specialty.
  • Valid RN license.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Medical/Surgical, Intermediate Care/Stepdown, Critical Care/ICU, Emergency Department, Mother Baby/Postpartum, or Specialty Nursery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional and safe patient care across various specialties.
  • Travel to different Sentara hospitals based on staffing needs.
  • Participate in block scheduling for assignments greater than 75 miles from home.
  • Utilize meal reimbursement and lodging provided for travel assignments.
  • Maintain a state of readiness to provide uncompromising patient care.
