The Registered Nurse (Survivorship Coordinator) is responsible for managing patient care from admission to discharge under general supervision and following established policies, procedures, and Michigan Public Health Code. The RN uses the nursing process (assess, plan, diagnose, implement, evaluate) and collaborates with a healthcare team to ensure high-quality care and timely discharge. The RN may delegate tasks to support staff and provide hands-on care depending on the patient's needs. Accurate and timely documentation and communication about patient progress, care given, and future needs are expected during each shift.

  • Collect and review patient data including medical history and vital signs.
  • Understand both physical and emotional needs of patients.
  • Identify problems based on assessments.
  • Work with the patient and family to set health goals and make care plans.
  • Carry out care plans, give medications, treatments, and patient education.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Organize and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Monitor and document how patients respond to care.
  • Adjust the care plan based on results.
  • Participate in activities that improve patient care and nursing practices.
  • Stay up to date through continued education and maintain records of learning.
  • Regularly assess your own work and take part in peer reviews.
  • Share knowledge with coworkers and help create a positive work environment.
  • Respect patient rights, dignity, and privacy. Support informed decision-making.
  • Use ethical standards in all aspects of care.
  • Use current research and data to guide care decisions.
  • Make smart choices that consider safety, cost, and patient needs.
  • Participate in unit or hospital committees, attend meetings, and contribute to team goals.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing in Michigan.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required by the end of orientation.
  • Additional certifications (such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC) may be required depending on the department or role.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required for certain roles.
  • Experience in oncology nursing.
  • Certification in survivorship care.
  • Experience with patient education and advocacy.
