Registered Nurse Registered Nurses at Cayuga Medical Center are an integral part of the collaborative interdisciplinary team devoted to the delivery of comprehensive and compassionate care to the Tompkins County community. RNs are able to practice at their full scope of practice, and have the opportunity to engage in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services with the goal of improving patient outcomes, and execute an optimal plan of care in a shared governance environment.

Requirements

  • License: Active New York Nursing license, out of state nurses are still eligible to apply
  • Minimum education: Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (new hires have the opportunity to obtain these certifications during introductory period)

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an Accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and families using a person-centered approach to quickly recognize deviations and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental and behavioral status.
  • Plans and evaluates the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize care goals for both expected and unanticipated needs while involving the patients and support persons.
  • Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families, and clinical documentation compliance remaining up to date on policies, procedures and standards.
  • Considers the interdisciplinary team as resources for interventions on care goals including evidence based practice.
  • Is self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system and assisting peers and team with skills and behaviors for compassionate implementation of operations and standards of patient care.
