About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services. The Pre-Admit Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in the ambulatory and medical/surgical setting. This role involves communicating with physicians, the Surgical Services Director, House Supervisor, and co-workers regarding changes in patient clinical condition, diagnostic study results, and symptomatology, and responding quickly and accurately to these changes or treatment responses. The nurse also collaborates with other departments to ensure quality patient care, efficient patient flow, and unit maintenance.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous acute care hospital experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care in the ambulatory and medical/surgical setting.
  • Communicates with physicians, Surgical Services Director, House Supervisor, and co–workers, as appropriate about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostics studies and symptomatology.
  • Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • Works with other departments and co-workers to provide quality patient care across the continuum, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization.
  • Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services.
  • Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
