About The Position

The Surgical/Neuro Science Intensive Care Unit (SNICU) is a 28-bed unit that provides post-operative care to BMC’s most complex patients, including those with trauma, neurology, cardiac surgical, vascular surgery, and general surgery needs. As an RN in this Critical Care unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care within a supportive nursing organization.

Requirements

  • Must have active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license or the ability to obtain one
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in another language a plus

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit , including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
