About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Surgical/GI Triage Team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and be committed to providing high-quality patient care. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and a passion for educating and helping patients.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited RN program required
• Current Wisconsin RN Licensure required
• Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Experience with medical records systems, Epic preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and team members
• Excellent keyboarding skills
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast paced environment
• Strong nursing assessment skills
• Strong critical thinking skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a surgical or medical-surgical setting
• 2 years of nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Triaging surgical patient calls
• Communicating with patients via Epic medical record system inbox results and telephone calls regarding test results, medication refills, patient questions, etc.
• Assisting CMA's with rooming patients, chart review, stocking, cleaning rooms as needed
• Reviewing medications in preparation for surgeries and procedures
• Completing FMLA paperwork
• Completing medication prior authorizations
• Managing incoming clinical faxes, labs, records, medication refills, etc.
• Communicating with physicians and advanced practice clinicians as needed to care for general surgery patients
• Assisting physicians with office surgery and procedures
• Working as a team to meet the needs of our patients, providers, and co-workers
