Job Posting Title: Registered Nurse (Surgery Pre-op Post-Op) Location: Dallas - Hospital Additional Posting Details: PRN, as needed Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10 hour shifts) Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities Manage, delegate, and coordinate quality nursing care Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with peers, departmental leadership, and the interdisciplinary team Provide family centered, child-focused patient care according to the nursing process Utilize critical thinking and evidence-based nursing practice to provide patient care Actively support the advancement of the nursing profession and evidence-based practice by initiating positive change Serve as a preceptor and assist with orientation of new staff and nursing students Develop, coordinate, and provide learning opportunities for the department, organization, and community Serve as a clinical resource amongst peers Participate in at least one departmental and/or hospital wide committee or task force Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Assess patient’s postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer. Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care. Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes. Transfer care as needed. Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act (if applicable), state board of nursing or professional registration requirements, state laws, and job descriptions. Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly. Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as needed. Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
