About The Position

This is a full-time (80 hours biweekly) Registered Nurse position for the day shift. The role involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care, patient and family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and providing a supportive role to patients and their families. The position may require specialized skills depending on the specific location, unit, or specialty assignment.

Current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required.
Current certification may be required for specific areas of nursing practice (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP depending on unit/specialty).
Thinks critically, utilizes sound judgment and promptly reports potential patient safety risks to provider and/or manager.
Demonstrates good organizational skills in the preparation of daily work schedules and the assignment of duties and responsibilities.
Ability to effectively work with and through physicians, subordinates, customers, and other personnel in a cooperative, collaborative manner in order to improve patient care outcomes.
Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks.
Ability to work in a fast paced, patient care environment.

Responsibilities

Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.
Carries out physician orders such as administering prescribed medications or treatments, preparing an operating room, order lab tests, x-rays, etc.
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning.
Monitors and restocks supplies.
Assists provider during examinations, non-operative and operative procedures.
Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
Assists in patient care related activities such as changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs, starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.
Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
