About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Surgery at Bronson LakeView Hospital is responsible for managing patient care delivery throughout their stay, ensuring quality outcomes and timely discharges. This part-time role involves utilizing the nursing process, coordinating care with other professionals, and providing physical care as needed. The nurse will also document patient responses and communicate effectively during each shift.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred (must obtain within 8 years of hire).
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan.
• BLS certification required by completion of core orientation.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment.
• Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for BAH.

Nice To Haves

• Critical care or ALS certifications may be required for some RNs.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months of hire for specific departments.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification for Labor & Delivery nurses within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage care delivery for patients throughout their length of stay.
• Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate care provided by other healthcare professionals.
• Delegate tasks to patient care assistants and universal service assistants as appropriate.
• Provide selected aspects of physical care based on patient acuity and complexity.
• Document and communicate patient responses to care provided during each shift.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and ongoing education related to nursing practice.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care given by self and others.
• Act as a resource for surgical teams and anticipate their needs during procedures.
