The Labor & Delivery Unit at Carolinas Medical Center supports our surrounding area as the regional high risk transfer center. We have 22 Labor Deliver Recovery Rooms (LDR’s), 4 OB Observation Rooms, 4 Obstetrical Operating Rooms, 5 PACU rooms and 8 Ob Triage rooms. This department is a high energy unit and serves over 7,400 women annually. Our department is supported 24/7 by our physician partners in Anesthesia, Obstetrics, Maternal Fetal Medicine and the Neonatal Intensive Care unit. We are a Magnet designated Facility and a participant in the North Carolina Breastfeeding Stars program. We provide onsite training for nurses with a passion for perinatal nursing, pre-certifications are not necessary, the courses are included in our orientation process. Job Summary Responsible for the direct provision of patient care and for assisting the manager with daily operations to include but not limited to coordination of patient care/outcomes, allocation of human and fiscal resources, communications, patient throughput, program development and oversight, patient, physician and employee rounding, selection, development, and retention of staff, clinical supervision and performance appraisal, performance improvement activities, service recovery and compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.
