About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care and clinical coordination within our behavioral health units, delivering quality, compassionate care for child (ages 5-17), adult, geriatric and forensic patients. You’ll work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Nurses at Valley Springs are active participants and key collaborators on the patient team in a patient's behavioral health journey. Our Behavioral Health Department is a 150-bed inpatient facility designed to foster healing, safety, and innovation. With a 1:6-1:8 nurse-to-patient ratio , our nurses provide specialized, compassionate care across children, adults, geriatrics, and forensic units. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program - Required.
  • Current unencumbered RN license in the state of Massachusetts (or compact state as applicable) Required.
  • BLS (CPR) - Required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred.
  • CPI or Handle With Care - Preferred.
  • ACLS - Preferred.
  • CRRN - Preferred.
  • 6+ months Med/Surg experience - Preferred.
  • Behavioral Health or Psychiatric experience - Preferred.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and de-escalation skills
  • Calm, compassionate, and focused under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with a passion for patient-centered care.
  • Understanding of Trauma -informed care (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care according to established standards and procedures.
  • Assess patient conditions, develop individualized care plans, and document progress.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other clinicians to coordinate care.
  • Support psychiatric emergencies and crisis interventions.
  • Promote a culture of safety, dignity, and respect.
  • Engage in professional development and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients' families' legal guardians and regulatory bodies.
