About The Position

The Registered Nurse 2 at the University of Miami delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner, utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service. This role involves overseeing nurses and allied health staff, assessing and evaluating patient care plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. The position is based at the Sylvester Cancer Center and offers a sign-on bonus of up to $25,000.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred.
  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, ACLS, BLS certification required.
  • At least 2 years of RN experience, preferably in Med Surg, Tele, Surgical Oncology, or ENT.
  • CITI certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and nursing care methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Excellent patient experience skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships and communicate effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider card preferred, or to be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assess assigned patients and evaluate plans, including documentation of nursing care.
  • Report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions and vital signs.
  • Modify patient treatment plans based on responses and physician orders.
  • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
  • Consult with physicians and healthcare professionals regarding patient care plans.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Provide psychological support and nurture a compassionate environment.
  • Safely administer medications and maintain accurate records as per regulations.
  • Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members in a timely manner.
  • Utilize resources for effective discharge planning.
  • Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to ensure superior patient care.
  • Adapt to changing work demands and environments.
  • Safely operate medical equipment.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new staff and provide constructive feedback.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures.
