About The Position

Central Arkansas Healthcare Systems (CAVHS) is seeking a self-motivated Registered Nurse who is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. CAVHS features a competent nursing staff providing specialized nursing care for adult and geriatric patients. This care is based on Veteran Centered Care and is reflected in the ICARE Core Values (Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, Excellence).

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the overall clinic management, functions and operations, facilitation of patient flow through the check in and check out process.
  • Provides patient education and/or instructions based on identified needs, education level and ability to learn and validates understanding with appropriate documentation in the medical record.
  • Works with multiple specialty clinics.
  • Participates in job/systems redesign activities and other activities that enhance patient care and clinic operations.
  • Maintains patient's privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assists with care coordination, management and facilitates coordination of all services for the patient in the Specialty Care Clinic.
  • Works with the patient, significant other and health care team to establish patient centered care.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill sufficient to assist with procedures and use of reusable medical equipment as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
  • Observation and documentation will include clinical reminders and the reporting of any noted change in the patient's condition to the Physician.
  • Provides leadership in interpreting, supporting and implementing Medical Center and Ambulatory Care Department philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and quality improvement processes.
  • Serves as consultant in clinical practice. Communicates and works effectively with others. Initiates and leads groups of personnel and interdisciplinary groups.
  • Accepts responsibility and maintains accountability for actions and continued professional growth.
