About The Position

Beloit Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for immediate openings in their Special Care Oncology Unit at Beloit Memorial Hospital. This role involves providing primary nursing care for oncology patients, including those with complex medical conditions and patients in the final stages of life. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate optimal care, and administer intermittent and continuous IV medications. Responsibilities also include assessing patient and family needs, planning and implementing patient care, evaluating health status, providing patient/family education, adhering to infection control policies, participating in Quality Improvement programs, performing unit-specific duties, completing documentation, setting care priorities, ensuring patient safety, and demonstrating proficiency with computer software applications.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable)
  • State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date)
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies
  • Possess the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform evaluation, treatment, and patient care for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Ability to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary nursing care for oncology patients, including medical complex patients and patients in the final stages of life
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate optimal care
  • Administer intermittent and continuous IV medications for patients with complex medical conditions
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and provide care for clients throughout their life span within the framework of the well/illness continuum
  • Ensure optimal service in a cost-effective manner
  • Appropriately assess basic physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families
  • Effectively plan patient care and consistently implement the patient's plan of care
  • Accurately evaluate patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies
  • Provide patient/family education appropriately
  • Strictly adhere to infection control policies including body substance isolation and blood born pathogen precautions
  • Actively participate in Quality Improvement program
  • Perform unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies
  • Complete documentation according to policy
  • Effectively set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity
  • Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protects patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position
