About The Position

Sherman Oaks Hospital is a 153-bed, not-for-profit, acute-care community hospital located in Sherman Oaks, California. As a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, Sherman Oaks Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care within their scope of practice in the Subacute setting. This role involves the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse will also direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel, maintaining professional nursing care standards in the Subacute Unit. This is a fast-paced work environment where the nurse will be directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients, communicating with physicians, the Subacute Unit Director, Charge RN, and co-workers about patient clinical conditions and responses to treatment. The role also involves working with other departments to ensure quality patient care, efficient patient flow, unit maintenance, and organization, while adhering to regulations, standards, and hospital policies. Active participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services is also expected.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in Acute or Subacute care setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate upon hire preferred.
  • Current PALS (AHA) certificate upon hire preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care within his/her scope of practice within the Subacute setting.
  • Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in the Subacute Unit.
  • Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
  • Communicates with physicians, the Subacute Unit Director, Charge RN, and/or co-workers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac and respiratory monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
  • Works with other departments and co-workers to provide quality patient care across the continuum, efficient patient flow, unit maintenance and organization.
  • Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
  • Participates actively in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services.
  • Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
