About The Position

Summary/Objective: Responsible for managing a significant nursing-related function as well as providing nursing care, treatment, and/or assessment services in the clinic. Essential Functions Evaluates and manages patient needs. Offers education and support to patient and families. Collaborates research with investigator, other employees and patient. Provides on-call coverage for patients receiving chemo at home on home pumps. Administers chemotherapy medication, including injections and IVS; documents medication given or prescribed by ordering physician as required by specialty; follows specific protocols. Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice. Assists with flow of patients to maintain the integrity of the chemotherapy department. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations as appropriate. Assumes responsibility for maintaining current certification in CPR. Assumes responsibility for maintaining chemotherapy/biotherapy certification through ONS every two years. Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policy and procedures and Clinical Services Notes newsletter. Attends mandatory safety training programs and lectures. Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting information in patient’s medical record.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing.
  • Must possess active Florida license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS certification or to be completed within three months of employment.
  • Current ACLS certification or to be completed within 6 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 2 years oncology experience.
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification through ONS within 90 days of hire.
