The operating room is an exciting, dynamic and innovative place to work that provides exciting new challenges and professional development. A Registered Professional Operating Room Nurse is an integral part of the perioperative team and serves as an advocate for patients who are undergoing anesthesia and/or sedation. The Operating Room Nurse is responsible for managing nursing care within the O.R. through observing the surgical team from a broad perspective and assisting the team in creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, coordinating complete nursing assessments and care for patients and participates in patient and family teaching for assigned patients within the Operating Room. The Registered Professional Nurse in the Operating Room provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the perioperative setting.

Requirements

  • ADN
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer Skills
  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • Must be able to scrub and circulate in the following services: vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, neuro/spine, robotics, thoracic, trauma and general.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN from a nationally accredited school
  • 2-3 years of experience as a RN
  • CNOR Certification preferred.
