About The Position

This position performs diagnostic testing for cardiovascular procedures. Provides patient and staff education. Assists in development and monitoring of Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Improvement (QI) programs. Assists in the development/maintaining department protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conducts diagnostic nursing procedures according to department protocol. Procedures include stress echocardiogram, routine treadmill exam, Sestamibi stress and pharmacologic stress testing, Transesophageal echocardiograms, Tilt Table Testing, Administration of contrast in Transcranial Doppler (TCDs) and/or echocardiograms (Agitated Saline/DEFINITY) Also assists with pseudoaneurysm injections, vein ablations and sclerotherapy.
• Evaluates and screens patients for safety prior to performing testing.
• Develops, reviews, and enhances cardiovascular education materials and programs. Provides education sessions/In-services to staff and patients (formal and informal).
• Develops and monitors QA/QI program.
• Oversees/maintains use and function of nursing equipment (crash cart, IVACs, 02, defibrillators , Datascopes, Accu-Chek, and nursing supplies (Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)/IV etc.).
• Coordinates procedures with other departments.
• Keeps updated on the flow of the department by checking on all diagnostic studies being done in and out of the department that require the presence of the Cardio Vascular Service RN.
