This Registered Nurse (RN) position provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient/family centered care. The role requires demonstrating clinical competency utilizing evidence-based practices/research in all areas of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and outcomes. It involves incorporating knowledge of safety protocols, cost containment, and quality improvement. The RN identifies patient, unit, and organizational priorities, adhering to all compliance and policy/procedures including licensure renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance, dress code, patient confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of regulatory agency requirements (TJC, DHEC, CMS) and provide care within the scope of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. The acute inpatient setting typically requires staff to be scheduled for significant shift, weekend, holiday, and on-call work. Essential functions include collecting data and completing nursing assessments, identifying nursing priorities, developing and updating individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, and setting realistic and measurable goals. The RN provides direct care, delegates tasks, monitors quality of care, ensures patient safety, and evaluates the effectiveness of care plans. Patient and family education is a key responsibility, as is maintaining professional competency and licensure. The RN serves as the patient's advocate and coordinator of care, working collaboratively with providers and other healthcare team members.
