About The Position

Atrium Health Pineville Labor & Delivery is a 12-bed unit that delivers approximately 2800 babies per year and growing. We care for laboring and antepartum patients. We have a 4-bed triage, 2 OR suites, and 2 PACU bays on the unit. We care for low-to-high-risk patients, including patients on Magnesium for pre-term labor or pre-eclampsia. Atrium Health Pineville is designated by Baby-Friendly USA as a Baby-Friendly Hospital and focus on lactation support. We are designated by ANCC as a Pathways to Excellence Hospital and are on the Magnet journey to nursing excellence. Our unit is a strong teamwork-focused environment with opportunities to grow and learn new skills. We encourage our labor nurses to take Spinning Babies or Bundle Birth classes, require fetal monitoring courses and OB ACLS. There are many ways to get involved through various small unit-based committees, including Unit Based Council to impact unit culture and patient care.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct provision of patient care
  • Assisting the manager with daily operations to include but not limited to coordination of patient care/outcomes, allocation of human and fiscal resources, communications, patient throughput, program development and oversight, patient, physician and employee rounding, selection, development, and retention of staff, clinical supervision and performance appraisal, performance improvement activities, service recovery and compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.
