About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Birthplace Unit at the Lakes Medical Center located in Wyoming, MN. This role is a 0.75 FTE. 60 hours per pay period, 12 hour night shifts, with every third weekend rotation & includes holiday hours. Fairview Lakes Medical Center offers top quality primary and specialty care to community residents. The 4-star rating places Fairview Lakes in the top 30 percent of hospitals in the country. About this Unit: The Lakes Birthplace unit is dynamic and collaborative. All RNs within the unit are trained in Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, OR circulator and PACU (c-section care), pediatrics, and nursery. (Cross training to med/surg may be required at leader discretion). All RNs are trained in lactation support, some of the RNs on the unit are Certified Lactation Consultants. Staff also enjoy free on-site parking! The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing
  • One year of labor and delivery experience or 2 years postpartum required. Preference given for L&D experience
  • One year of acute care nursing experience
  • AWHONN fetal monitoring required with <1 year L&D experience
  • Or
  • GE fetal monitoring course completion within 6 months of hire for RNs > 1 year labor and delivery experience
  • Or
  • successful demonstration of fetal monitoring competency via exam in the 18 months prior to hire
  • Current NRP certification or willing to obtain within 60 days of start.
  • Current PEARS certification or willing to obtain within 60 days of start.

Nice To Haves

  • Current STABLE certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of fetal monitoring principles and accurate interpretation of fetal monitoring strips using NICHD language.
  • Provides appropriate labor & delivery care to the pregnant woman per AWHONN standards of care and established order sets; including within the Operating Room.
  • Provides appropriate care to the postpartum woman per AWHONN standards of care and established order sets.
  • Provides appropriate care to the full –term infant and late preterm infant per AWHONN standards of care and established order sets.
  • Provides resuscitation care to the newly born infant per American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation standards.
  • May be trained to circulate the operating room for obstetric cases.
  • Pediatric patient population cares as assigned.
  • Med/Surg cross-training per manager discretion.
