About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit, which is a 22-bed unit specializing in general medical surgical and telemetry patients. This includes patients with conditions such as pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF, chest pain, and post-operative patients from GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The patient population often has multiple co-morbidities and complex care needs, and patients are admitted or transferred from ICU, ED, and PACU. The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person, creating a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. Under general supervision, the RN provides professional nursing services and patient care in various settings, following the established nursing process including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The role ensures adherence to hospital and department policies, nursing procedures, standards, and practices. Clinical decision-making involves all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. The RN assesses and identifies patient needs, implements appropriate interventions considering patient population needs per department scope of service, delegates nursing care activities, provides supervision, establishes and maintains a plan for nursing care delivery, assures interventions are problem-solving, and performs technical aspects of care competently. The RN has access to medication storage areas as required for job tasks and follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing
  • Current RN licensure or temporary Kentucky work permit
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Completion and maintenance of BLS
  • ACLS & PALS (or ENPC) within 6 months of hire
  • NIHSS within 3 months of hire
  • Successful completion of all competencies as identified on the departmental nurse competency grid
  • At least 1 year of experience
