About The Position

Registered Nurse Department: Medicine Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor Minimum rate of pay: $34.77 PLUS Daily PAY Position Purpose: 5 North is a 34-bed medical inpatient unit housing medical observation, stroke, and general medicine patient populations. The unit has the capability to monitor up to 16 patients on telemetry. The staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to provide respectful, patient-centered care for a diverse patient population. 5 North offers great learning opportunities, the chance to learn and hone many skills, sets the foundation for nursing practice, and facilitates the development of critical thinking as care is provided to a variety of diagnoses. Nurses on this unit earn their NIHSS certification within the first 6 months of hire. Shifts Available: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Status Available: Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • BLS.
  • ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency
  • Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply
  • Graduation from accredited nursing program.
  • Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care

  • Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care
  • Uses teach back methodology to educate patient and family

  • Follows all HIPAA policies and procedures
