About The Position

At Dungarvin, the Registered Nurse (RN) is a mission-driven role focused on providing quality, individualized health care management to individuals on their caseload, ensuring optimal health. The care provided is normalizing, sensitive, respectful of dignity, and encourages autonomy. The RN acts as a health resource for staff and ensures compliance with State of Texas Department of Public Health licensure requirements and organizational policies regarding health issues, medical care, and records, in conjunction with supervisors. The role involves working directly with people in need of assistance, and/or living with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other complex medical needs, with a commitment to person-centered supports.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current Registered Nurse license to practice nursing in the state of Texas
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and driving record, which allows candidate to be covered by agency insurance policy required
  • Must be mature, flexible, self-motivated, dependable and able to work cooperatively with individuals, staff, interdisciplinary team members and outside agencies
  • Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members

Nice To Haves

  • Prior education and/or experience working with the developmentally disabled or other long-term care or home health care experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing oversight to individuals supported by Dungarvin in individual areas
  • Provide oversight to ensure documentation, all nursing and other health/clinical assessments, and billing are in compliance with Medicaid regulations, as well as provide health care supports on an as needed basis
  • Supervision of medication administration of non-licensed staff that administer medications in residential or individual home support settings, day programs, respite programs and/or are involved with the clinical supervision of this process, and to the administrative supervision who are responsible for the implementation of progressive discipline
  • Communicate with involved team members regarding medical issues involving a particular individual as requested by the team, or as needed, to assure continuity of care
  • Provide program health care training as needed to support persons with developmental disabilities in community environment
  • Report any issues/concerns to the senior director, program director or program supervisor, along with any appropriate background information
  • Provide leadership and direction in promoting the concepts set forth in organizational philosophy, policies and procedures
