About The Position

This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful St. Lucie River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it an excellent medical facility and a home away from home. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre- and Post-Operative Care Unit (PACU), you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care, monitoring patients' health, assessing patients' pre-operative status, administering medication and maintaining up-to-date patient records. You will be caring for pre- and post-operative patients undergoing surgical cases including, but not limited to, general, thoracic, robotics and cardiovascular surgeries. On this nursing team, you will feel supported and appreciated for the knowledge you have to share and have access to our advanced technology and research to ensure all patients receive world-class care. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) from 6:00AM - 6:30PM, with night and weekend call requirements. A minimum of 48 hours per six-week schedule is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of employment
  • Periop 101 or validated OJT for the operating room setting

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • RN experience in an acute-care PACU or ICU

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
