About The Position

The Cape Cod Collaborative is an educational organization providing a full range of instructional and support services to the students, parents and public school staff of our 20 member districts, whose needs are best addressed through a multi-district effort. Our student services include: alternative education programs for low incident, special needs populations; programs for the multi-handicapped; therapy and services for students requiring specialized support; and a full range of transportation services for both the special needs and general education population. We coordinate collegial sharing opportunities for various professional groups, conduct executive searches and offer a wide range of professional development and training opportunities for the educators and support personnel of our member districts. #WeAreOneCollaborative About Waypoint Academy Waypoint Academy is a therapeutic public day school operated by the Cape Cod Collaborative, serving middle and high school students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The program emphasizes individualized support, therapeutic interventions, and academic growth in structured, supportive environment. Job Discription The Registered Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellness of students and staff at Wapoint Academy. This position requires a compassionate, organized, and proactive professional who can manage daily health needs, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with educational and clinical teams to promote a safe and healthy school environment.

Requirements

  • MA DESE School Nurse License
  • Current Massachusetts RN license required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children and adolescents in educational or therapeutic settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health and trauma-informed care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to students, including medication administration, first aid, and chronic condition management.
  • Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor student health status and communicate with families, staff, and outside providers as needed.
  • Collaborate with the therapeutic and educational teams to support students' IEP health-related goals.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts as part of the school's behavioral support team.
  • Ensure compliance with immunization and health screening requirements.
  • Develop and implement health care plans for students with medical needs.
  • Provide health education and wellness promotion to students and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards of practice.
