About The Position

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Treatment Nurse (RN) to join our compassionate and collaborative team at our Bloomington clinic. This role offers a consistent weekday schedule with no weekends or major holidays, supporting a healthy work-life balance. You’ll work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and fellow nurses to deliver life-saving therapies and support patients throughout their treatment journey. From administering chemotherapy to educating families and responding to urgent needs, you’ll be a trusted partner in every step of care.

Requirements

  • Current Illinois RN license (required)
  • 1+ year of clinical nursing experience
  • Passion for oncology nursing and patient-centered care
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally rewarding environment

Responsibilities

  • Administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Performing clinical procedures such as port flushes, dressing changes, injections, and catheterizations.
  • Assessing patients in person and by phone for side effects, toxicities, emergencies, and overall well-being.
  • Supporting physicians with diagnostic procedures and reporting thorough nursing assessments.
  • Preparing daily treatment schedules and ensuring readiness of teaching materials and clinic resources.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized treatment environment and delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Responding calmly to emergencies and operating necessary equipment.
  • Triaging patient calls and collaborating with team nurses to provide timely support.
  • Traveling to satellite clinics 1–2 days per week to extend care across our network.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with hospitals, pharmacies, and community partners.
  • Staying current with education and obtaining OCN certification within 3 years.
  • Upholding HIPAA and safety standards in all aspects of care.
