About The Position

Join our dedicated team at a leading outpatient infusion center, featuring 13 modern infusion bays designed to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care. We specialize in oncology infusions and also provide a broad range of non-oncology treatments, including therapeutic infusions and blood transfusions. Our nurses work collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment, ensuring high standards of clinical excellence and continuity of care. This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful patient relationships while working with a multidisciplinary team committed to improving health outcomes. CentraState Medical Center currently has an employment opportunity available for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Infusion Center. The RN administers culturally sensitive nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with ANA standards, the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, professional standards, and established hospital and Nursing Department policies and procedures, following evidence-based nursing practice. The RN utilizes the Nursing Process to deliver patient-centered care and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions through analysis of nurse-sensitive indicators and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of chemotherapy infusion and oncology experience required
  • ONS chemotherapy and biotherapy certification required.
  • Current NJ RN License required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required within first year.
  • CSMC IV Certification to be achieved during hospital orientation.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the patient's individual needs to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
  • Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
  • Appropriately analyzes patient information /assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate nursing care, medical intervention or services of other clinical professionals.
  • Administers medication as needed following CSHS policies and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence.
  • Recognizes adverse reaction to medications and takes immediate and appropriate action.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergency situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Participates in unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
  • Offers ideas to improve processes for patient safety.
  • Makes decisions that demonstrate knowledge of nursing practice; utilizes sound nursing judgment in clinical and patient care management situations.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the care of patients and in the coordination of care to assure the best patient outcomes.
  • Supports cost containment through efficient use of equipment, supplies and other pertinent resources.
  • Successfully functions as a preceptor/mentor to students and new staff members.
  • Consistently promotes teamwork within the unit and between departments.
