The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services. Requirements

Graduate from NLN School of Nursing
Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse
Complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
Complete and maintain ACLS certification (required for Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiovascular Surgery, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, Labor & Delivery, PACU/Recovery)
Complete and maintain PALS certification (required for Emergency Department, Medical Nursing – OB/GYN, Pediatrics, PACU/Recovery)
Complete and maintain TNCC certification (required for Emergency Department)
Complete and maintain NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) certification (required for Labor & Delivery, Nursery)
Acquire appropriate specialty certification within 12 months from the date of beginning work in the specialty area
Acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department within 18 months
Complete de-escalation training by the end of position orientation (90 days) with appropriate level of training
Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program
Demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
Demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required
Maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
Possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
Possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
Be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
