A Day in the Life of a Registered Nurse (RN) As a PRN RN, you play a vital role in assessing and supporting patients in their homes. Your responsibilities include: Conducting patient visits to assess nursing needs Completing initial evaluation visits and developing individualized plans of care Performing ongoing assessments and revising plans as needed under physician direction Providing skilled nursing treatments and educating patients and caregivers on disease processes, self‑care, and prevention Initiating preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures as ordered Preparing clinical and progress notes and coordinating services with other care team members Communicating directly with physicians and staff to ensure continuity of care Re‑evaluating patient needs and assisting with discharge planning Supervising LPNs, vocational nurses, and home health aides when appropriate Practicing infection control and universal precautions Reporting suspected abuse according to state and federal guidelines Assisting with office tasks and new‑nurse orientation when needed You take pride in providing high‑quality care that truly impacts patients' lives.
