Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Rehab department at our University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Clinical trials advance our clinical services, by introducing the newest ideas to patient care. Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks) on the night shift (7pm-7:30am). This position is 12 hours and will work an every third weekend rotation. About our Rehab department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank: Serves multiple diagnoses including neuro, ortho, oncology, amputee, spinal cord injury, transplant, etc. Primarily adults, however, see adolescents ages 13+. All core staff are required to pursue a rehab specialty, including geriatrics, neurology, lymphedema, swallow, NDT, etc. This supports a robust learning environment for newer clinicians, students, and lifelong learners. Approximately 50 therapy and tech staff at the 2 post-acute units Highly coordinated between all fields along with MD/Physiatrist, rehab nursing, social work, dietary, etc., with the primary goal to get patients home. 30 beds of Inpatient Rehab. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Current Minnesota RN License.
  • Completion of Rehab Nursing Certification within 24 months of hire.
  • BLS (basic life support)

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of RN experience.
  • Experience in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting and/or 1-year rehab nursing experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
