About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-acuity critical care in a fast-paced ICU environment. This opportunity is open to first-time travelers and requires strong critical-thinking skills, clinical independence, and the ability to manage complex patient conditions. The MICU is a 16-bed unit caring for critically ill adult patients with a wide range of medical diagnoses and advanced life-support needs. The MICU treats patients with conditions including, but not limited to: Sepsis and septic shock Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) Renal failure Heart failure and pre-VAD workups Alcohol withdrawal and overdose Multi-organ failure Post-cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management Respiratory failure and shock Patients requiring advanced therapies such as: CRRT EKOS IABP ECMO Impella
Requirements
- Active New York State RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- Recent MICU or ICU nursing experience
- EPIC charting experience (required)
- Strong critical-care clinical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work nights and every other weekend
- Dependable, adaptable, and team-oriented
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill MICU patients
- Perform detailed assessments and continuous monitoring
- Manage ventilated patients and advanced hemodynamic support devices
- Administer medications, titratable drips, and life-saving interventions
- Collaborate with intensivists and multidisciplinary care teams
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using EPIC EMR
- Participate in emergency response and rapid clinical decision-making
