As a Registered Nurse (RN) at NYCBS, you will be integral to the care and support of both patients and the medical team. Your primary responsibilities will include: Administer Chemotherapy & Biologic Treatments: Administer chemotherapeutic, biologic, and supportive care medications as prescribed by the physician, while identifying and managing cancer-related and treatment-related complications. Patient Monitoring & Documentation: Track vital signs, document in the medication administration record, and monitor patient responses to treatments. Collaborate & Contribute: Work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to share knowledge and provide exceptional patient care. Participate in Cancer Research: Administer medications per protocol as part of clinical research trials and help advance oncology treatments. Provide Patient Education & Support: Educate patients and families on treatment expectations, follow-up care, and emergency services. Offer resources that support health and wellness. Monitor Treatment Progress: Oversee patient status during chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive medication administration.

Requirements

  • Valid New York State RN license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and healthcare professionals
  • Experience with EMR’s
  • Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents, handling bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
  • Attention to detail and professional conduct
  • Reliable transportation to travel between NYCBS locations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions (standing, bending, reaching)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
