Provides knowledge and support to Wound Center staff and other patient care providers care of patients with actual or potential ski/wound issues to include care planning, clinical practice, educational activities, process improvement, and statistical reporting. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrates expertise in judgment, decision-making, and treatment skills in the area of skin/wound care to include the prevention of skin injuries as well as the treatment procedures of patients with pressure, diabetic, venous, arterial, diabetic ulcers, and staging pressure ulcers, or in the care of other miscellaneous skin disorders. Collaborates with other clinicians, such as attending physicians, would center team, dieticians, physical therapists, educators, infection control experts, etc., to provide comprehensive care and appropriate treatment. Provides education to patients/families regarding the proper care of wounds in the home environment as well as working with Education and the department team to prepare/present materials or CE courses on pertinent skin and wound care. Demonstrates practical application of policies and procedures relative to safety, infection control, and risk management. Maintains statistical data related to skin/wound issues and relays to the appropriate parties, i.e., Service Excellence, PI, Infection Control, Administration, etc. Mentors, develops and trains new staff and students. Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Serves patients, age newborn through geriatric, by performing functions in relation to the customer/patient’s age/needs.
