The Registered Nurse - Wound Care Center demonstrates authority, responsibility, and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound and ostomy care. The Wound Care RN acts as a resource consultant, and provides direct patient care and education as it may relate to patient care/treatment with consideration for age/condition. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop treatment plan according to current wound care protocols; explain dressing rationale, institute preventive measures and monitor results of care delivered; Advise physicians on status of wound patients Identify patients requiring debridement procedures and alert attending physician Identify nutritional deficiencies, coordinate with Health Care personnel to solve nutrition problems and report results to respective supervisors Ensure adequate materials are on hand for every patient Attend wound care education programs designed to enhance the benefits patients can derive from the most recent techniques/procedures available
