About The Position

UVA Health is currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Women & Children's Float Pool-a specialized team that supports multiple inpatient units within our award-winning Medical Center. This position requires the ability to work night shifts or rotating shifts, providing flexible scheduling while ensuring exceptional patient care around the clock. Whether you're looking for full-time, part-time, or wage/PRN opportunities, our Staffing Resource Office is ready to support you in finding the right fit within our Women's and Children's services. As a float pool RN, you'll have the opportunity to work in different areas based on your competencies, broaden your skillset, and gain exposure to diverse specialties, all while contributing to a patient-centered team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients.
  • Manage care and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians, and other members of the health care team.
  • Seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice.
  • Assume a beginning leadership role and seek mentoring in this process.
  • Participate in shared governance and demonstrate knowledge of nursing practices.
  • Engage in professional development through formal education and certification.
  • Support onboarding of new team members and precept as applicable.
  • Adhere to clinical documentation guidelines and engage in performance improvement activities.
  • Implement evidence-based practice and new knowledge generated by nursing research.
