About The Position

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department. OBH is fully accredited, provides high quality care in a compassionate environment to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and has been nationally recognized for outstanding patient care.

Requirements

  • Current North Carolina Registered Nurse license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
  • At least 1 year experience in an acute patient care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act and American Nurses Association Standards of Practice.
  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with ECU Health and entity specific nursing policies, procedures and professional standards of care/practice.
  • Provide and coordinate nursing care including the collection and analysis of assessment data.
  • Identify expected outcomes and develop a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Identify interventions to attain expected outcomes and implement the interventions identified in the plan of care.
  • Evaluate the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes and document the process.
  • Promote and evaluate the effective functioning of the health care team.
  • Collaborate with health care team members to meet the identified needs of the patient/family throughout the episode of care.
  • Delegate tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by NC Nurse Practice Act.
