About The Position

The Clinical Nurse II is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with patient/family and other professional disciplines to create a partnership which ensures effective and efficient patient care delivery for the achievement of mutually desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization’s vision and mission while promoting and providing excellence in nursing care. This role is accountable and responsible for deliverance of nursing care for all aged pediatric and neonatal patients requiring medical Advanced Life Support (ALS) or medical Critical Care Transport (CCT) under the supervision and in collaboration with a CHOC Children’s Physician. Is responsible for accurately assessing, attempting to restore and maintain the wellbeing of the ill and/or injured pediatric or neonatal patient during intrafacility or interfacility ALS or CCT transport. Additionally, this role is responsible for obtaining and maintaining competency in advanced scope of practice skills which include intubation, umbilical line placement, intraosseous insertion, needle thoracentesis, and resuscitation under the direction of the Transport Medical Director, Transport Clinical Director and Transport Clinical Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of critical care nursing experience in either NICU, PICU, Transport Team, or CVICU.
  • One (1) year of experience in a pediatric setting.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) within 2 years of hire.
  • Knowledge of family-centered patient care based on age appropriateness and cultural needs.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and positively with others.
  • Ability to prepare timely and accurate documentation and reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of critical care nursing experience in a pediatric inpatient hospital.
  • Transport Team experience highly preferred.
  • Critical Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN).
  • Certified Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT).
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
