The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) is a PRN/Hourly role that involves variable 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends. The TCU is a 30-bed short-term skilled hospital-based rehabilitation unit that provides daily nursing care, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy. Patients are admitted to the TCU for a few days to a week or more to recover from acute and chronic illnesses, stabilize their conditions, and prepare for a safe return home. The department staffing includes a combination of licensed and unlicensed staff each shift, typically comprising 2-3 licensed nurses and 2-3 unlicensed staff. While many staff work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend, flexible scheduling options are available.
