About The Position

Job functions specifically performed by the RN Trainer include the following: 1. On-call to coordinate and resolve all crisis situations related to the Health and Wellness department specifically related to high risk program participants and new program participants. 2. Supervise LPN, CNA and all Health and Wellness personnel. 3. Ensure overall quality assurance for Rule 116 including medication management by: 1) matching the actual contents of the medication boxes to the Medication Administration Sheets (MAR) sheets, 2) ensure medication is ordered by the physician’s or psychiatrist’s 4. Submitting, reviewing and approving medication errors in the Therap system. 5. Review and resolve any complicated issues found through body checks. 6. Provide all program participants with first aid care and emergency care as needed. 7. Ensure that the agency's group homes and main office have all resources deemed required or necessary to maintain program participants' basic health and safety, such as the "Nursing 2000 Drug Book". 8. Maintain the Health and Wellness component of the computerized program participant database i.e. HRST and Therap Services (for all medical appointments and follow-ups, medication administration record, medication errors, nursing assessments, control sheets and monthly weights) 9. Communicate with physician’s and Forum pharmacy as needed regarding individual medications and insurance coverage of medications. 10. Manage and file all Health and Wellness related items in proper individual binders when Therap is not used. 11. Ensures individual monthly medical summary is submitted by the H&W QIDP. 12. Conduct reviews and follow-ups on all Incident Reports (GER reports in Therap). 13. Accompany program participants to scheduled medical and dental visits. Ensure all reports are shared with the guardian following medical appointments. 14. Process medication packs and oversee monthly medication changeover. 15. Conduct initial medication training and annual recertification trainings for all authorized DSP staff. 16. Complete CBTA’s for DSP staff and ensure applicable MAR is attached. 17. Inform Authorized Direct Support Professionals and appropriate personnel of new medication information and dietary changes via Therap or TEAMS. 18. Establish new provider relationships as required and maintain/improve existing health service provider relationships. 19. Other duties as from time to time assigned. The RN Trainer is accountable for maintaining individual certifications (CPR/First aid, QIDP and RN) and ensure all necessary course re-trainings are up to date to remain an active employee in accordance with Rimland’s policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Pass: A fingerprint criminal background check A child abuse and neglect check A drug screen.
  • Provide: An original educational document (no photocopies) showing you have obtained your RN license and it is in good standing in the state of Illinois.
  • Residency for the past 2 years
  • Current & original documents that verify your identity & ability to legally work in the United States
  • Two verifiable employment references within the last 3 years
  • Proof of valid drivers license at the time of interview
  • You must have a valid drivers license & be willing to drive company vehicles to be eligible for this shift
